They trudge through the icy grass, drinking in the peace of this deserted place. Conversations have been attempted, but they’ve faltered and died and so have been abandoned. Sirius spots a glint in the distance and they move towards it, ostensibly too out of breath by the pace to make comment.

They suddenly crest a hill, and there just below them lies a lake, throttled by an icy grip. Snow gathers in small pockets around it, where the sun has not yet cleared it away. A small stone bench calls them over, and they sit, still in silence, both too completely preoccupied by the possible reasons behind this collapse in communication to consider resolving it.

Sirius’ mind runs over and over itself whilst Remus’ stomach appears to have wrapped around his throat. When Sirius takes a breath in, Remus nearly chokes. However, the words that might begin to close this gaps are pushed away again in the exhale, and still nothing is solved.

‘It isn’t me, Sirius,’ Remus says eventually.

‘I don’t know what you’re talking about.’ Sirius stiffens, and does not look at him.

Remus stares at the ice, and he breaks.

Oh, man, I can feel the uncomfortableness in this...why can't they just talk it over :( *cries*

(I've not really been keeping up with posts lately and I may have absolutely no idea what's going on, but I can most definitely still appreciate this as a stand-alone bit! Beautiful choice of wording here...)

Having a timeline that makes sense is for wussies, this isn't meant to tie in anything with anything in a concrete way just now.

Thank you! =)
